Teaching

When I first moved to my studio in 2010  I was working in textiles and began my teaching, running one day and week long workshops.  Everything from using a sewing machine for the first time to developing ideas and creative mentoring.  For the final 5 years of The Textile Space I taught a year long Foundation course in Textile Arts.  After lockdown I began my work in ceramics working in porcelain.

I now teach ceramics at Matt Smith Ceramics, situated in the studio next door to me and also one to one in my studio working in Porcelain.

I also run mentoring and creative development sessions online.  If you are interested then please do contact me to talk specifically about what you are wanting to achieve.

What my students say:

"Deborah has given me so much encouragement and support in finding my direction with clay.  Instead of just throwing I now know where I am going!"

Robert 2023

“Thank you so much Debs for the brilliant sketchbook day, I was so frightened! but now I can’t put it down”

Tammy 2021

"I was lucky enough to be on an introduction to porcelain course with Deborah at Matt Smiths Ceramics.  I was terrified to try working with porcelain but Deborah gave me such confidence and I loved all of it!"
